Kyndr

Social network · Mobile · Case study by Igor Ginzburg

The project

Kyndr is a community-led social network, built as a kinder alternative to mainstream platforms. People join or start communities, post, run polls and events, and message each other, with the tone of the place kept positive by design. It spans a mobile app on iOS and Android and a web product.

My role

Design Lead across mobile and web for over five years, owning UX, UI, and system-level decisions. I partnered closely with product, engineering, and marketing to shape the product end to end, from early concept through launch and ongoing evolution.

The problem

The product was being built from nothing. There was no existing app to iterate on, no research base, and no shared visual language, so every decision had to be made and validated for the first time, and at the same time made in a way that would still hold up as the platform grew.

What I did

Led UX from discovery to production. Ran research to define the problems, validate assumptions, and shape product direction, then translated those insights into product definitions, user stories, and user flows built to scale. Drove ideation and rapid iteration to validate solutions before they were built, and worked with engineering on live builds to keep execution quality, accessibility, and UX standards high.

Built a tokenized, component-driven design system in Figma to give mobile and web one consistent language. Led discovery and alignment sessions with engineering to agree on shared principles, constraints, and naming, then componentized the core UI patterns into a reusable library tied to design tokens.

Worked hands-on with product and engineering to launch the app on the App Store and Google Play, and supported growth by aligning product design with marketing and go-to-market.

The outcome

The app shipped on iOS and Android and has kept evolving since. The design system became the foundation for the product, cutting design and development time noticeably while raising quality and consistency across the platform. Features designed and shipped along the way increased user engagement and retention, with ongoing design leadership across core initiatives and day-to-day execution.
